Fayetteville, GA (Sept. 21, 2006) - Within 24 hours of opening, the Piedmont Fayette Hospital Maternity Center welcomed three new babies: two boys and a girl.  The first baby, Jeremiah Kristian James, was born Wednesday, September 20, at 12:26 p.m., weighing in at 8 pounds 7 ounces. Proud parents are Kristi McFadden-James and Reginald James of Jonesboro.  The second baby boy, Joseph Alfred Goza, was born shortly thereafter, at 3:19 p.m., weighing in at 8 pounds 4 ounces to Drs. John and Mary Sue Goza of Fayetteville.  The first baby girl was born on Thursday, September 21, at 3:48 a.m. to Nicki Weston and Victor Ochoa of Centerville, Georgia. Malorie Nikole Ochoa weighed in at 7 pounds 2 1/2 ounces.

Brian Finneran, wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, welcomed the newest Falcon fans today with the presentation of  special Falcons baby blankets. Starting September 18, all babies born at Piedmont hospitals during the 2006 Falcons season will receive the special blanket. In addition, the hospital presented the first baby's family with a basket filled with baby items from Babies R Us, a one-year membership to the PFH Fitness Center, a lovely flower arrangement and a portrait sitting and canvas from Images by Rainy.

"Our staff couldn't be happier to welcome these three bundles of joy into the Piedmont Fayette family.  As Jeremiah, Joseph and Malorie made their debut into the world, PFH made its debut as a full service maternity center," Ingrid McIntyre, director of the Maternity Center at PFH. "The halls and corridors in the Maternity Center at Piedmont Fayette Hospital are buzzing with excitement."

William Cook, M.D., and Mironda Williams, M.D., delivered the babies.  They are two of 20 physicians with OB privileges at the hospital.  More than 35 new employees ranging from labor/delivery staff, nursing staff and mother/baby staff are on hand to care for new families at the Maternity Center.

The community has been involved from the beginning in bringing maternity services to Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Babies for Fayette was a community effort in 2004 toward that goal, which is now a reality.  In fact, one of the first moms, Dr. Mary Sue Goza, was a member of the Task Force.  Community support continues as members have already donated a variety of items including artwork for the maternity center.  A local quilting club is quilting baby blankets and hats for the new babies, and local Girl Scouts are putting together sibling packets.

"Our staff is thrilled to be a part of this momentous occasion.  The community should be proud of its effort to bring this much-needed service to families in this area," said Darrell Cutts, President and CEO of Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

The Maternity Center provides three private birthing suites allowing mothers to labor, deliver and recover all in one room. In addition, there are two surgical rooms for cesarean sections and seven private mother/baby rooms for postpartum care.

The Maternity Center has a full-time lactation consultant and will be offering childbirth education classes. In addition, Piedmont Fayette Hospital Rehabilitation and Fitness Center will offer Moms in Motion classes.  For information about classes, please call Link2Health at 1-866-900-4321 or visit www.fayettehospital.org.
