In the United States, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes. Eighty percent of these women do not have any of the reported risk factors, other than being female and aging. The key to surviving breast cancer is early diagnosis. Regular screening mammograms, breast self-exams and yearly breast exams by your physician can help. For additional information on programs offered by the American Cancer Society in the Fayetteville area please call 770-460-8920.
You should examine your breasts every month or perform breast self-exams. If you're over 40 years old, schedule a mammogram and clinical breast exam every year. Remember - if you're a woman and aging, you're at risk.
